Local coach federation announces alliance
September 2003

The Silicon Valley Coach Federation (SVCF) announced today that it has formed an alliance with WorldAtWork, the world's leading professional association in the field of Human Resources. WorldatWork was formed in 1955 to support human resource professionals in attracting, retaining, and motivating employees.

The SVCF is a chartered chapter of the International Coach Federation (ICF), and has been dubbed "The voice of coaching in Silicon Valley." The professional association is made up of life and business coaches, providing services to the individual, business and non-profit sectors.

According to Kimberly Fulcher, PR Chair for SVCF, the alliance grew out of an increasing awareness on the part of HR professionals in the importance of coaching, both within their organizations and personal lives. "In our current economy, companies are forced to do more work with fewer people," she said. "When employees are exposed to professional coaching, there is often a measurable improvement in their performance, resulting in revenue and earnings growth." Kimberly supported her findings by citing a study, conducted by The International Personnel Management Association, where the introduction of coaching into a normal employee training program more than tripled the improvement in productivity over training alone.

The alliance will afford members of the SVCF the opportunity to provide articles for WorldatWork's monthly trade journal and on-line publications. The two organizations' websites will be linked, and WorldatWork members will be afforded access to the services of SVCF's member coaches.

"This partnership will introduce hundreds of human resources professionals to the world of professional coaching, through timely articles on topics of interest to them, and direct participation in a coaching relationship," Gwyneth Anne Friedman, a public relations representative for SVCF said. "This alliance will provide our members with the chance to interact with the human resource professionals of this dynamic, world-renowned group, and directly contribute to the future economic growth of business in our region. We’re very excited to begin working together."

The ICF is the global professional association of personal and business coaches, representing more than 5300 members and 38 countries worldwide. Coaching is an interactive process that helps individuals and organizations to develop more rapidly and produce more satisfying results in their lives and careers. The coaches of the SVCF are local professionals who offer corporate, executive, business, sales, personal, health, relationship, financial, and spiritual coaching services. SVCF coaches offer free introductory sessions to interested parties. Practitioners can be located through the referral service offered on the organization's website at www.siliconvalleycoachfederation.org.
